September Meeting

An Evening at Furstenberg Park
Wednesday, September 15 6:00pm
Furstenberg Park features a native plant garden maintained by
master gardeners. Besides touring this garden, we will be exploring the rest
of the Park. Furstenberg Park is the most botanically rich of all the Ann Arbor
natural areas with a restored oak savanna and floodplain. You will see native
plants that will be suitable to put in your own garden. Learn how this area was
restored by the City of Ann Arbor and volunteers. Our guide for this wonderful
evening is Ann Arbor Park Steward and native plant expert, Aunita Erskine.
The park will be at its peak bloom this month.
Dress for the weather.

Bring your own sack lunch dinner and something to drink.
Picnic tables are there.
Dessert will be provided.
We will be carpooling. Meet at Ypsi High Parking Lot by 5:30pm.

October Meeting
October 20th
Wednesday, 7-9 p.m.
Ypsilanti Senior Center at 1015 Congress
Janna Field of Fieldfarms, located in Dexter, Michigan, will be demonstrating how
she makes her 100% vegetable based soaps.
Janna is a Farmer's Market Grower
and an Advanced Master Gardener. She loves to grow unique flowers, heirloom
tomatoes, herbs, gourds and more! Her interest in herbs led her to research and
experiment with soap-making. She now makes and sells over 15 kinds of soaps.
Janna will have handouts of her recipes and where to obtain materials.
She will also have her soaps for sale.

Our Ypsilanti Garden Club member, Dottie Williams, loves to make bowling ball
garden ornaments. Dottie is bringing a special bowling ball ornament that will be
raffled off this evening. Proceeds will be donated to the Garden Club.
